Amiya, Parbati secure gold medals in Indian GP-II

Odisha athletes won a total of three medals in the second leg of the Indian Grand Prix 2017, which took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi this evening. The medals include two gold and one bronze.

Ace Odisha sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick, who broke the national record in men’s 100m event by clocking 10.26 seconds in the semifinals of the 20th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships in 2016, won the gold medal with a timing of 10.62s.

Parbati Sethi captured the other gold medal in women’s discus throw with an effort of 43.94m. But allrounder Purnima Hembram settled with bronze medal in women’s long jump, finishing third with an effort of 6.01m.
